Ever since I was a little boy I have always wanted to go to Germany and see the land that my Grandparents talked so lovingly about, and this past June, I finally made the trip. At first I was a little intimidated taking my first trip out of the country, especially about how to get around. I was just going to get a Eurorail pass, but I talked to one of my good friends who had been to Berlin a couple years ago and he told me to just get a car rental in Germany if I was worried about it, it could probably save me a few bucks too.
Before I left the country I did a little bit of research and I found that it was a heck of a lot easier getting a car rental in Germany than I though. The first thing you have to do is get an International Drivers License which sounds a lot harder than it really is, especially if you have AAA auto insurance, they really helped me out a lot and it was actually pretty cheap too! Once I had the International Drivers License, getting a car rental in Germany was just as easy as it is over here in America.
The car rental agency that I used in Germany was Europcar, and let me tell you, there is a reason that they are the top car rental agency in Europe. They were very kind and respectful even when I spoke in my broken and horrible German, and they even pointed out some really great sites to see while I was in town! While I never had time to try out any other car rental agencies in Germany, I would most definitely recommend Europcar to anyone who needs some wheels anywhere in Europe.
